Squash

A couple of weeks ago I tried squash for the first time. Here are some pictures of that moment. Mom is scared I may turn orange because I love orange foods- squash, sweet potato and carrot. I told her to relax a bit and pleased her by enjoying mashed potatoes too, I do not like avocado or pear!

My first Christmas

Here are a few photos of me and Daddy on Christmas day. I had a great first Christmas spent at Coco and Grandpa's. I didn't nap, got to eat mashed potatoes at the dinner table with everyone, and also watched my Great Auntie Janet play the accordion while my Grandpa played the piano.

Dance Moves Not Quite Ready Yet

Yesterday I was minding my own business, hangin' in my crib, when my parents busted through my door to see what I was doing. Boy, was I embarrassed when I was caught red-handed practicing some not-quite-ready-for-prime-time dance moves.

Due to my position in the crib, it made the most sense for me to try to perfect the more basic "water sprinkler" dance move before moving on to others. I had one arm out; one arm was bent with its hand behind my head. I even used real spit up to simulate a water sprinkler!

"You have to fan your fingers behind your head like this," explained my daddy, demonstrating. So, I'm still working on it. Here is a photo of my latest attempt...

A couple of weeks ago I got to go to ANOTHER State, and another beach, Miami beach. Here are a few pictures of my stay at the swanky Gansevort South.

I Love Oatmeal

I started eating oatmeal a couple weeks ago. Spoons taste pretty great, too.

Don't mess with me, bee.

That bee shouldn't have been standing there. Talk to the hand...the back of my hand that is. Take that! And that!

Also, I've decided that I'm going to be Crazy Spoon Hand Lady for Halloween. Look at me. I've got a spoon attached to my hand. I can spoon food up to my mouth or just wave it around, and I'm crazy.

Glo-what?

I am not sure if this is my favorite toy yet..but it sure is mommy's! She has told me many times how much she always wanted one and used to love the commercials, but she never had one. So I humor her and hold my gloworm close.

Plump, Delicious Raspberries

I spit up during and after I eat, and I've demonstrated how I love to spit up my medicine before it even touches my tongue. My next trick is even cuter! Now I can do a raspberry -- a variation of the earlier spitting up, although this is on purpose. And my intent is innocent.

Another beach, another State...

This past weekend I had the opportunity to go to Rehobeth Beach with Jared and Ana. BABY AT THE BEACH. I had a great time and was well behaved besides my spitting up a few times..okay..more than a few. I got to go to the beach, ride on the boardwalk, watch everyone have crabs, and go to the outlets. I can't wait to meet Baby G!

How cute am I in my "Juliet" towel after a bath in the sink?

Check out my shades...

Capon Springs, WV

My parents team "Champions" made it to the finals of the shuffleboard tournament at Capon, see at right where Daddy stands guard during a break(I am in on the bench in the netting).
Below see Uncle Ken holding me during cocktail hour. I had a lot of fun with him!

Taking a bath in most places involves a bathroom, soap, a washcloth, running water, soft towels with a hood and toys to keep you occupied. Taking a bath at Capon involves a bathroom, soap, a washcloth, running water, soft towels with a hood and toys to keep you occupied. I was more talkative this time, though. Listen to what's coming from under the hood.

Another beach...another State

Wow, I am one lucky girl. This past week I was invited to be included in a Riley ladies beach extravaganza at my Great Aunt Ellen's and cousin Samantha's house. Auntie T, Coco and of course Mommy went too. I was a great traveller and got to visit my sixth state and go to the outerbanks. It was beautiful.

Our Visit to NH

Sorry I haven't posted anything for awhile. I've been busy travelling around New Hampshire and Maine, visiting with Mommy and Daddy's friends and family. One of my favorite activities was going to the beach in North Hampton...

Hi everybody!

Grammy, Jason, Buddy and Penny (from left to right) also joined us at the beach.
Here is my skeptical face, while looking at the camera. I'm going to audition for The Office.

I'm all bundled up and protected from the sun. No tan for me -- yet.

What a nice family photo.

My first 100 degree day

My parents tell me that it gets hot and humid in DC in the summer, but I didn't see what they meant until today.

Instead of Mommy and Daddy walking with me over to the car for a trip, they were running to the car to get out of the heat. I went from one air conditioned area to the next. No walks outside today. I'm just looking out the window -- or looking in the direction of the window, I think, since I'm not sure how far away I can see yet.

I can't wait to go to the beach and get tanned up like Mommy and Daddy. And I can't wait to play in the sand, too. It should mix with my spit ups into a nice cement.

Video Cameras Make Me Nervous?

My first flight

Sorry for the delay in posting..I have been very busy smiling and cooing when I am awake and have not had time to work on my blog. Last week I flew to Columbus, Ohio for an overnight visit. I think I did pretty well considering how nervous M&D were. I slept the flight there and back...the sound of the engine worked really well. I got to see Molly and Todd get married and meet many more of the OWU clan. I also taught Dad how to tie his bow tie, FINALLY!

I guess everything they told M&D about travelling with a newborn was true, or at least I convinced them it was...at least until next time:) I am officially no longer a newborn and am now an infant. Watch out, here I come world.

Mommy & me...look alike?

This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago, but, my friend Barbara thinks I look like Mom did when she was a wee one. What do you think?

Big events of recent

I had a big week last week. I went and got some culture with my mother and Coco. I got to see a very large Marc Chagall mosaic while I sat with the ladies and had lunch. Here is what I was told(or whispered to) about Chagall, in case you don't know who he is, before I saw his artwork: Marc Chagall was a Jewish artist, born in Belarus and naturalized French in 1937. He is associated with several key art movements and was one of the most successful artists of the twentieth century. Who knows, maybe I will be artistic? Thank you Linda for inviting us for a special day.

Sleeping Contest Results

Mom and Juliet had a sleeping contest to see who could sleep the longest.

"I bet I can sleep for an entire night!" boasted Mom.

"Even though I'm only three weeks old, I bet I can sleep just as long as you can," said Juliet.

So they started to sleep. In the first night, both Mom and Juliet slept for about 45 minutes. Winner: nobody.

During the next night, they both slept about 2 1/2 hours. Juliet won because she merely matched how long Mom slept; however, they both still have a lot of training to do before they can take on the champ, Dad, who holds the recognized family record.

Father's Day-dictated by Juliet

Pop got to go play some golf with his frat brothers on father's day...while I hung out with mom and Coco(you all can guess who Coco is). We had a great day of boob time, and going #1 and #2. Later in the afternoon Auntie T and Uncle Ken bbq'd a wonderful meal for Grandpa and Pop. Before dinner we went on a walk in the "Moby", which I love! Here is the shot of me in my Moby, the color looks good on me...Don't you think?

Secret note: Pop spoke with his fellow Zeta Chi brothers and they have agreed to teach me the special handshake which I can't wait to teach my mother.

In just under 3 hours I will be two weeks old I plan on spending my 2 week birthday rocking out to some more Metallica.

We Apologize

Claire thought that we should tie in a blog post to a current event, so I chose one at random...

When the sun went down in Silver Spring, MD, their voices did not. "Allah O Akbar!" the crowds on the tops of building chanted over and over. The phrase, which means, "God is great," has become a rallying cry for protesting Iranians who have risked their lives and clashed with Juliet-led riot police because they believe the nation's recent presidential election was rigged.

It was later confirmed that Juliet didn't understand the situation, Iranian or English yet (or could see more than 18 inches in front of her face), so the clash was a hasty move. We apologize to those who caught the worst of it.

Born to Rock

Juliet Riley Cliche was born June 10 at 9:21 pm and born to rock.

By "born to rock" we mean multiple meanings. Not only does Juliet enjoy being rocked to sleep by her daddy, but she also prefers the soothing sounds of Metallica over Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and her horoscope may be a prophesy of the second coming of Riley/Cliche party animals.

Juliet is a Gemini per her birth date. An AOL horoscope webpage says "You Geminis are curious, talkative, versatile and mentally active. Your mind can bounce around from one topic to another with great ease, making Gemini the champion of cocktail party chatter and lighthearted social encounters (uh oh). Others will think that Gemini are fun to be with, but your ability to change with the changing winds can also lead others to see Gemini as shallow (awesome). Gemini motto might be 'A rolling stone gathers no moss.' You are the eternally youthful child, no matter your chronological age. A razor-sharp wit can have you verbally dueling with the very best of opponents (we can't wait), who moments later are your best of friends."

She's going to do some damage. In the meantime, Juliet's saving her energy...
